As a reminder, we have also kept tuition flat for the 2021 – 2022 school year and are offering early enrollment discounts through May 31st: $65 off the regular tuition and $95 off for each student when a family registers three or more.

February 27, 2021 Announcement

Dear Students and Parents,

We hope that the first couple months of 2021 have been good for you and your families and that everyone is staying healthy and safe!

After discussions with the leadership teams at Concordia Lutheran Church and CCLS (the middle school) and learning how successful they have been with their COVID-free in-person classes, the German School Association has decided to adopt their guidelines and resume on-site education on August 21st for all of our classes.

We have also decided to keep the tuition flat for the 2021 – 2022 school year and offer early enrollment discounts through May 31st: $65 off the regular tuition and $95 off for each student when a family registers three or more.

While our teachers have continued to deliver high-quality German language classes during the online 2020 – 2021 school year, they all look forward to returning in person this fall!

Sincerely,
The GSA Board of Directors

November 16, 2020 Announcement

Dear Students and Parents,

We hope you and your families are staying healthy and safe during these challenging times!

Although the German School has also faced challenges, we are very grateful for the incredible support that we have received from the German School community! In fact, your support has enabled the 2020 – 2021 school year to successfully continue with 60% of the student body participating online this year versus the onsite classes that we traditionally offer.

While the teaching staff and Board of Directors are actively discussing various approaches both onsite and online for the 2021 – 2022 school year, we have made the decision to continue the online format for the second semester of the current school year in the light of the COVID-19 situation in the St. Louis area.

We will continue to monitor ongoing local conditions as well as guidance from health and government agencies. In addition, we are staying in close communication with the leadership teams at Concordia Lutheran Church and CCLS. Before the start of fall semester, we will certainly communicate to the German School community the best options for continuing to deliver high-quality German language classes.

Sincerely,
The GSA Board of Directors

August 8, 2020 Announcement

Dear Students and Parents,

We are grateful for the incredible support we have received from the German School community and your continued strong level of interest to participate in high-quality German language classes for the 2020 – 2021 school year!

Over the past few weeks as the implications of COVID-19 have evolved, the German School Board has sought input from other schools in the area on how best to ensure everyone’s health and safety. Additionally, with feedback from our teachers and a majority of our students and parents, we have determined that it will be best to start all classes online.

Adult Classes
For the entire 2020 – 2021 school year, all Thursday and Saturday adult classes will be conducted online.

Children’s Classes

For the first semester, all Saturday children’s classes will be conducted online. Our teachers are diligently developing customized, age-appropriate lessons and activities to make the start of German School fun, interactive, and educational.

We will continue to monitor COVID-19 developments in the community as well as any changes in mandates, restrictions, and guidance from health and government agencies. Also, we will stay in close communication with the leadership teams at Concordia Lutheran Church and CCLS (the middle school). Before the start of the second semester, we will make a determination if online learning will continue or if on-site education is an option in January.

Enrollment
Please register by August 15th to ensure that you are placed in the correct class for your skill level in time for the first day of school.

Our teachers are excited to get started again! Deutsch lernen macht Spaß!

Sincerely,
The GSA Board of Directors

July 21, 2020 Announcement

Dear Students and Parents,

We hope you and your families are safe and healthy this summer! Since last month’s communication, the German School Association has given careful consideration to the safest options for continuing to offer high-quality German language classes in the 2020 – 2021 school year.

Adult Classes
As communicated last month, all of the adult teachers will conduct their Thursday and Saturday classes online via Zoom.

Children’s Classes
After discussions with the leadership teams at Concordia Lutheran Church and CCLS (the middle school) and reviewing their initial plans for reopening, the German School Association will adopt their guidelines and resume on-site education on August 22nd for following the children’s classes: The beginner class A1.1 (ages 7-11) and the intermediate A2.1 class (ages 9-14) will be conducted online via Zoom.
In the interest of everyone’s health and safety, the Board has decided that the Kindergarten classes will not be offered this year, as it would be too difficult for our teachers to enforce social-distancing and mask-wearing with children in the 4 – 7 year old age group.
Once the Concordia/CCLS policy is finalized, we will publish a similar one for the Saturday German School classes.

Enrollment
Regarding Fall classes for all students, please note: Our teachers look forward to continuing to serve the greater St. Louis area this fall and beyond!

Sincerely,
The GSA Board of Directors

June 12, 2020 Announcement

Dear Students and Parents,

Since our last correspondence with you, the German School Association has continued to review learning options for the ‘20/21 school year. The following outlines our current thinking:

Adult Classes
All of the adult teachers will conduct their Thursday and Saturday classes online.

Children’s Classes
We continue to stay in close communication with CCLS regarding their plans for the return of fall semester in-person classes, while at the same time exploring online and video options. Additionally, we are monitoring CDC and St. Louis County guidance regarding COVID-19. Our plan is to provide additional communication by the end of this month.

As a reminder, the early discounted tuition enrollment period has been extended to June 30th. We look forward to continuing to offer high-quality German language classes to the greater St. Louis area this fall and beyond!

Stay healthy and safe!
Sincerely,
The GSA Board of Directors

May 11, 2020 Announcement

Dear Students and Parents,

While the German School Association is currently discussing learning options for the ‘20/21 school year, first and foremost, we are committed to the safety of our students and staff.

We are in close communication with CCLS regarding their plans for the return of fall semester in-person classes and at the same time exploring online and video options. Additionally, we are monitoring CDC and St. Louis County guidance regarding COVID-19.

We understand that many of you are still considering your plans for continued German language education and have therefore decided to extend the early, discounted tuition enrollment period to June 30th.

We will keep you apprised of our plans later this summer. In the meantime, stay healthy and safe!

Sincerely,
The GSA Board of Directors
